How Much Do Maine Coons Weigh?
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, with males typically weighing more than females. Here's a general breakdown of their weight:
Male Maine Coons: Typically weigh between 13 to 18 pounds (5.9 to 8.2 kg), though some can grow even larger, reaching up to 25 pounds (11.3 kg) or more.
Female Maine Coons: Usually weigh between 8 to 12 pounds (3.6 to 5.4 kg), though again they can grow much larger.
Maine Coons grow slowly compared to other cats, often reaching their full size at around 3 to 5 years of age, with some continuing to grow for a few years longer.
Due to their large size, Maine Coons have muscular builds and sturdy bone structures, which is part of what makes them so majestic-looking. Their size, combined with their long, luxurious coats, gives them a very imposing appearance, but they're generally gentle and friendly.
